Bodegas Carchelo
BODEGAS CARCHELO is located in Carche Valley near Jumilla, Spain's most arid wine region. At elevation levels as high as 700 meters, the vineyards are planted on rocky, but fertile soil with little vegetation. This part of Spain near the Mediterranean sea is increasingly known for its unique, high quality wines, fruity and well balanced. Since its foundation in 1990, the winery owns more than two hundred hectares of vineyard, mainly with plantations of Monastrell (Mourvèdre) and Syrah. The rest is split between Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. The wineyards are irrigated by night with water coming directly from the mountains or rainwater when possible. Apart from its state-of-the-art machinery, the bodega owns 500 wine casks made of french oak. The wines sold under the brand Carchelo, Altico, Canalizo and Vedré are well balanced, brawny and develop slowely in the bottle.
